Check out the rest of the winners too - there are some familiar names in there, including Precie, Janey, Aerin, LaughingWolf and, heh, me! It was a fun, fun contest, with so many different takes on the prompt, fascinating stuff to read and kudos to Jason for having the energy to assess all the entries.

Public Humiliation Challenge Wordcount: 170.
You are too kind! And hopefully prescient on the U26 thing. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on placing in the top tier! I really liked yours, too, with the black heels and the ants at the beginning. As I said already, I guess. I am still in shock that mine floated just >that< much higher than other high quality entries.
Aren't we the clever lot?!! Well done McK. I loved your entry very much. Actually I adores all the ones that Jason mentioned. As you say he has a durn good eye. And Pete The U26 or indeed The Goldminer's Daughter (or has there been a title change?) have had some special lucky dust sprinkled on them today.
ReplyDeleteBig fat YEAY!
Well, I've only just come across you through Clarity of Night, but maybe I can get away with saying I heard of you way back when...LOL
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
grats to all, and way to go pjd :D
ReplyDeletei agree mc, it was fun, with surprising ways of seeing the same prompt
More congrats to Pete and all you talented bunch of writers!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, McKoala! (And I'm not just sucking up to lower the Claw Threat Index.) I liked your story very much!
ReplyDeleteThanks PJD, JC, Sarah and Wolfie. Janey, like you, I also pretty much agreed with Jason's choices. Interesting, though, that the candyman/falling shopgirl didn't feature in his list - but was the reader's choice.
ReplyDeleteJen, there is only one way to reduce the Threat of the Claw, and you know what it is...
Well done, McK.
ReplyDeleteYou are a clever lot. Wow!
I just read the post below about stopping googling whatever links BT puts up. LOL!!! He's a wily troll.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your vignette! Well-deserved. And PJD's was awesome!!
:-)
Congrats, Pete!!!
ReplyDeleteI've been flitting around reading, and I realized (because I skimmed, previously) that I shoulda said congrats to all!
ReplyDeleteWell done, all of you! I'm really impressed with the quality of stories (and that I can say "hey, I know that person!" to so many of the best ones.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that so many talented writers have come together in this cyber cafe. I shouldn't be surprised. Great mind seeks each other out. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat work, PJD! Your piece really was perfect. And you, McKoala, awesome job! All of the ones who placed wrote tight, effective pieces. That's talent.
