Updating the bar!

I'm chasing your results down, oh Koala fans, so watch out.

Now, here's a question. I am on Smackdown. As you know, I issue writing punishments to those who are on Smackdown. I considered giving myself some test of pain and suffering, such as eat a bar of chocolate and watch tv every night for a week, but then thought, no, unfair!

What writing punishment should The Koala have to experience?

And if I were to feel like releasing BT from Supersmackdown, what should he have to do first?

Remember, I'm watching you at all times... In particular, Whirl and Sylvia - dropped down for underreporting. Janey, still on Smackdown, although I know you're doing NaNo and suspect you've written yourself up a level by now. Report in!

Her Koalaness shall write a coherent 500 word essay on any subject provided she does not use the letter 'i'. Also, she shall hunt up three internet links that include music and someone wearing the colour orange.

His Trollishness shall write a coherent 1000 word essay on any subject provided he does not use the words 'the' or 'a' ('an' is allowed.) Also, he shall hunt up three internet links that involve cats running in to things.

jj scares me!

I am writing, honest. Not, um, quite every day but I have 6k behind me from last week and I am rushing off to write more right now!

No claws, please! :(

I agree with jj's first paragraph except replace "any subject" with "why those who make the rules feel free to finagle them to suit their own needs."

Unfortunately, my computer's come down with a virus and jj's second paragraph is a mishmash of those little squares with numbers in them that are used as placeholders for Chinese characters (which is an improvement since yesterday it had wingdings). However, I'm sure jj was simply reinforcing the points she made in her first paragraph, or suggesting an essay subject similar to mine for the Koala to pursue.

Also, my banishment to the nether regions is predicated on erroneous data resulting from a reporting problem, not a production problem. Last week I wrote over six billion words, but I was unable to communicate this on my blog or here in the Koala's lair because my computer ran out of zeros (another symptom of the virus).

I hereby petition that His Trollishness' excuses should be allowed as part of his word count.

After all, they consist of very creative writing. :D

His Trolliness IS very creative, JJ, as you point out, in the best, smartass Florida boy kinda way.

As for The Koala, how about if she writes of a strange and wondrous dreamscape of a piece about the koala out back of her new house, hanging out in a tree, and how, one day when the kids were in school and no one was watching, McK and Regular K, their eyes bored into one another (in a good and bondy kinda way) and the Regular K told the MA-Kay his or her life story...

I'm just sayin'...

As for me, today I sent out a story I've been editing and thinking about and editing for a few weeks - to five places. Also, in my quest to scrub roughly 1/4 of the word count of my novel off the map, I've been editing approx. 4K per week of scenes from my novel. Today I took an 876 word set of small scenes into 661 words.

God, I'm boring.

My WIPometer is advancing like a slug on a skateboard.

For much of the time — nothing.

Then the slug has a momentary brainwave. Kicks off and rides for a short distance, then sits idle twiddling its wibbly bits.

As for you, no punishment is good enough.

So why don't we go with that?

We know how much you'll relish blogging about your strife. 1000 words without an 'a' or a thesis on being hoist on your own petard.

But no!

The koala must remain silent!

Like a Trappist monk punished for relieving himself with the abbot's discarded banana skin!

Ok I have started writing again but I haven't been taking any notes on wordcount. I wrote 1500 words yesterday though.

Also in the last few weeks I wrote 2,353 words on a new book and 317 words on a kiddie poem which I might try to develop into a board book.

Does that relieve any of the claw pressure...

You need to buy chocolate, have it sit around the house in plain view, tauntingly, AND NOT EAT ANY FOR A WEEK! Bwahahahaha!

PS check the contest results. You have won something.

Devilish, the lot of you. I will ponder. Firstly, off to WW's to see what's going on...

Total word count for this week, including the 1500 reported earlier is 5,808.

Over this weekend (11/14-11/15) I've edited a 6700 word chapter that I'm also working into a short story. Got it down to just under 5800 words. By the end of the day, the goal is to take out the squishy and get it down to approx 5000.
