Voicing the werewolf

Robin is hosting another voiceover fest - here's my contribution, in the form of the first page or so of a short story about a werewolf.

Check out Robin's blog for more links!

I recommend a more healthy snack than human flesh. Fruit is a good choice. Perhaps a granola bar. But stay away from the flesh. It's fatty and won't do your heart any good in the long term.

Nice. Enjoyed it!

I loved the description of the transformation, the other half of you wanting to get out.

This was great.

Now I've figured out what's happening when Girly of Whirly tosses and turns in the night. Certainly explains the huge chunks bitten out of the cheese after a full moon.

This is delicious, and the line about the badgers is exceptionally good.

Stoat?

Paca: what if she only eats vegans? A bit stringy perhaps, but leaner and, probably, easier to catch in a chase.

I think I now understand how a koala can strike such visceral fear into hearts of writers. It's not just koala claws that threaten...

I vote for the Koala Claw threats and smack downs to be recorded.

"I know it will not be enough for me tonight..." dah-dah-dahn....

I played the word "crackling" over and over and over. It is my favorite thing you have ever said. That Scottish-tinged-Aussie "crackling", the sharpness, the allure -

yep, I'm scared.

This is a spine-chill-enhancer, made even 'chillier' by the wonderful quality of the prose. Especially enjoyed sharp edges and demands.

Good stuff, McK!!!

You're all so funny. Not sure a vegetarian werewolf would be an acceptable monster. Even 'veggie' vampires have to drink pig blood after all.

I'd love to sell this one. 700 words, so it's a shortie. But a goodie. I hope.

BT, I know EXACTLY who's been smacked down so far. And if your wordage doesn't go up, you're not far off from joining that list with your sweet little self...

You are seriously good at creepy!!! I loved this, but couldn't help visually-replacing 'werewolf' with 'werekoala.'

Very nice. Very very nice!!!

Just popping on to say I agree with what you mentioned over at my place - someday we will be chatting with a bottle of chilled white wine at the table.

Off topic - I totally sucked last week wordcount, but today I wrote 576! Yay!

Your lovely, melodious voice tempers the angst of this piece and makes it feel more real. Let us know when and where it sells ;o)
